Detective Comma is a character from her creative literary workshops for children - he helps children to track down various literery topics.
Sewing this doll was an interesting challenge. I had to develop a new pattern because Mr Comma was supposed to be bigger than Dollisia but smaller than Dollitka dolls, though equally elaborate. It also neede elements related to its name, hence the characteristic bent beard and "comma" emblems on the clothes.
Several photos of the process of making this doll can be found here.
In the end my little detective is about 50 cm high (19 inches). His body is sewn from cotton fabric and stuffed with silicone fiber. The doll does not stand without support.
The doll's face is hand painted with acrylics. The hair and beard are embroided with wool.
For Mr Comma I made white shirt, dark jeans and elegant shoes. Also a checkered coat, a cape and of course, necessary in the wardrobe of any true detective, a deerstalker cap.
It was great pleasure to create this doll. All the more satisfying, knowing that now it brings so much joy to the children attending these workshops.
